Introducing a delicious recipe for Argentinean empanadas!

Hello Che! Amigo! Thank you for always using Che! Empanada. This time we will share with you a delicious recipe for empanadas, a traditional Argentinian dish that everyone loves.

In Argentina, empanada dough (tapa) can be purchased at supermarkets, but it is difficult to obtain in Japan, so we will start by showing you how to make the empanada dough.

[Ingredients for dough]

  • 250g flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 50ml vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water

[How to make the dough]

  1. Add flour and salt to a bowl and mix well.

  2. Add the vegetable oil and mix using a fork or your fingers.

  3. Gradually add the water and continue mixing until the dough comes together.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a counter and knead it with your hands - it doesn't need to be very strict, but you want it to be smooth.

  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  6. Remove from the refrigerator and roll out the dough thinly until it is about 2-3 mm thick, then cut out circles using a ring mold. This should make 12 pieces.

  7. Store in the refrigerator.

That's how you make the empanada dough.

Next up, the empanada filling! Today I'll be introducing the simplest and most classic recipe for ground meat empanadas.

  • 250g minced meat
  • Half a large onion, chopped
  • Half a red pepper, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon paprika powder
  • 2 boiled eggs
  • olive
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Your favorite oil
  • Beaten egg (optional)
    1. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and add the onion and red pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are soft.

    2. Add the ground meat, spices, salt and pepper.

    3. Once you've mixed everything well, remove from heat and let cool. Be careful not to let the filling get too hot as the skin will become soft and lose its shape.

    4. Preheat oven to 230°C.

    5. Take the empanada skin out of the refrigerator, put the meat in the center, and fold the skin over like you would a dumpling. Seal the edges tightly (I'll show you how to make cute, twisty repluges next time!)

    6. Place on a tray lined with baking paper and bake in the oven for 13 to 15 minutes (brushing with beaten egg will help them come out nicely).

    7. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

What did you think? Please try making it with your friends and family. Try adding some spice to it for adults or adding your favorite ingredients.

It goes great with red wine or beer!

see you~ :)
